Message	I didn't use any clear.. I wasn't sure if it would hold up that well under all that heat. It is 1200 degree paint in a spray can.. I 400 grit the valve covers... scratched the surface really good... shot the first coat... let it stand over night.. then I wet sanded with 1000 grit. And shot a second coat. everybody loves them.
